New Delhi: The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has launched the AICTE Innovation and Entrepreneurship Doctoral Fellowship Programme (AIEDFP) to promote innovation-focused doctoral research and strengthen India’s research and entrepreneurship ecosystem.

The programme was launched by AICTE Chairman Prof. Yogesh Singh and Member Secretary Prof. Shyama Rath. It carries a projected financial outlay of ₹245 crore over five years and will support 150 PhD fellowships.

The AIEDFP aims to encourage problem-driven and application-oriented doctoral research, with emphasis on converting academic research into tangible outcomes. The programme will focus on areas including innovation, entrepreneurship, technology transfer, commercialisation and societal impact.

The fellowship initiative seeks to bridge the gap between research and practical applications by encouraging scholars to work on challenges with potential for real-world solutions.

Through AIEDFP, AICTE aims to empower the next generation of researchers and innovators while strengthening India’s transition towards a knowledge-driven and innovation-led economy.
