Bengaluru: The Department of Public Instruction has withheld results of 52 teacher aspirants as were under scanner for malpractice and notices have been served to them.

These 52 aspiring teachers jostling for jobs at government schools are now facing an inquiry for the alleged malpractices in the recruitment exam that was held recently.

The candidates had written a Common Entrance Test (CET) held in May for the recruitment of 15,000 teachers in government schools. The results were declared recently and of the 1.6 lakh candidates who applied for the exam, 52,342 of the candidates were eligible for the recruitment.

The authorities discovered that there was unauthorised use of whiteners, change of ink and change in handwriting while scanning the OMR sheets before it could be sent for the evaluation.

During the evaluation the authorities were shocked to find job requests by the desperate aspirants on the answer scripts and pleading with the evaluator to pass them so they could get a government job.

Some candidates replied to the notice issued by the department. “If the reason they give seems to be genuine, then we will call them in for an inquiry. For instance, in case of handwriting, we will make them write the exam,” the senior official said.

The department has collected the CCTV footage from all the exam centres these 52 aspirants gave the exam. If they are found to be guilty, then they will permanently be disqualified.
