Lucknow, October 17, 2025: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has distributed scholarships worth ₹297.95 crore to over 10 lakh students across the state under the Post-Matric and Pre-Matric Scholarship Programme. Addressing a scholarship distribution event in Lucknow, the Chief Minister emphasized that education is the cornerstone of nation-building and key to empowering India’s youth.

Citing Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, CM Yogi said that education plays a vital role in building a self-reliant and progressive society. “It is our firm resolve that no talented student, particularly from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, or Other Backward Classes, is deprived of education due to financial constraints,” he said.

According to the Chief Minister’s Office, scholarships worth ₹297.95 crore have been transferred directly to the bank accounts of 10,28,205 students through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system, ensuring transparency and efficiency.

Scholarship Beneficiaries Witness a Sharp Increase

Highlighting the government’s efforts in expanding educational access, CM Yogi shared that the number of scholarship beneficiaries in the state has risen from 46 lakh in 2016–17 to 62 lakh in 2025–26, demonstrating the administration’s commitment to inclusive education.

Education as a Path to Self-Reliance

Reiterating Dr. Ambedkar’s belief, the Chief Minister said, “Only through education can one achieve self-reliance and contribute meaningfully to the nation.” He noted that while students like Dr. Ambedkar faced immense struggles for education in the past, today’s youth benefit from numerous state-led educational and welfare initiatives.

Impact of Government Initiatives

CM Yogi highlighted the success of initiatives such as Abhyudaya Coaching, which provides free coaching to students in every district. He also credited the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for nationwide welfare reforms that have lifted 25 crore people above the poverty line, including 6 crore in Uttar Pradesh.

Minister of State for Social Welfare (Independent Charge) Asim Arun commended the Chief Minister’s leadership, stating that the scholarship drive reflects the state’s unwavering commitment to expanding educational opportunities and social welfare.
