Kashipur : The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kashipur has announced the appointment of Professor Neeraj Dwivedi as its new Director, ushering in a new era of strategic leadership and academic excellence at the premier management institution.
A distinguished academician and strategic expert, Prof. Dwivedi brings with him over 25 years of experience across education, corporate sectors, and institutional governance. An alumnus of IIM Lucknow, he holds a Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) in Strategic Management, along with an MTech from IIT Kharagpur and BTech from GB Pant University, Pantnagar—establishing a solid foundation in both engineering and management disciplines.
Before joining IIM Kashipur, Prof. Dwivedi served as a Professor of Strategic Management at IIM Lucknow, where he held several key leadership positions, including Dean (Faculty and Programmes) and Chairperson for Post-Graduate Programmes, Admissions, Student Affairs & Placements. He also served on the Board of Governors and played a critical role in the institute's AACSB accreditation, a benchmark in global academic excellence.
In 2017, he was the national convener for the Common Admission Test (CAT), overseeing the seamless execution of one of India’s most competitive examinations.
His teaching and research contributions span across leading institutions such as IIM Indore, IIM Kozhikode, and the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand. Prior to his academic career, Prof. Dwivedi worked for nearly seven years in the corporate sector, gaining hands-on experience with prestigious organizations like NTPC, Indian Oil, ONGC, Samsung, McKinsey & Co., and Tata Play.
Recognised for his thought leadership in strategic management, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, and leadership development, Prof. Dwivedi has received multiple awards, including:
- Best Case Award at the Strategic Management Forum Convention, IIM Bangalore (2010)
- Overall Best Research Paper Award at IAMB Conference, San Antonio (2013)
- Best Doctoral Student Paper Award at IAMB Rome (2014)
- Runner-up for Best Paper Award at INDAM Conference, Goa (2024)
- His elective course on Mergers and Acquisitions was twice voted the Best Strategy Elective at IIM Lucknow.
