Haryana: Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendergarh organized a one day Workshop in joint collaboration with Google News initiative on Fact Check and Data Analysis' in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication. Professor Umesh Arya from Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology (GJU), Hissar, shared valuable insights with the students on the importance of data and fact check in the Research. He talked about the importance of developing a data frame of mind, collecting data in a disciplined way and scientific way of searching. He throws light on particular terms like Data Biography, Data Pipeline and Pinpoint. In today's age of information overload, it's crucial for researchers to make sense of data.

Prof. Arya said that don't believe in data if it does not have a biography. 5Ws and 1H of Data to be kept in mind while scrutinizing data. Putting emphasis on the scientific way of searching, he familiarised scholars with Pinpoint, multipurpose application, where data is stored up to 100 GB and gets transcribed in all formats HTML, JPEG, PNG. Head of the Department, Associate Professor Dr. Ashok Kumar expressed gratitude on the behalf of the department. He said such workshops help students to understand the importance of data in day to day story making. He said data journalism is a new and growing branch of journalism, students’ needs to learn data verification skills. All faculty members and students were present in the workshop.
