New Delhi: The Uttar Pradesh government has halted the implementation of a digital attendance system in state-run schools due to controversy and criticism. This decision comes after SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav blamed the administration of postponing the project out of fear of losing in the upcoming by-election. An expert group, chaired by the Chief Secretary, has been constituted to address teacher complaints and make recommendations for educational improvement.
Following the controversy surrounding digital attendance, it was decided to organise an expert committee chaired by the Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh to hear teachers' concerns and proposals. This committee will listen to instructors' complaints and suggestions and then submit a report. This committee will include Education Department officials, Teachers' Union members, and educators, among others.The group will evaluate all aspects of education and make recommendations for improvements.
Digital attendance will be suspended until additional orders. A decision will be made based on the committee's report. The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary of Secondary Education Deepak Kumar, Principal Secretary of Basic Education Dr Shamuga Sundaram, Director General School Education Kanchan Verma, State President of Uttar Pradesh Primary Teachers' Association Dr Dinesh Chandra Sharma, and other senior officials.
