New Delhi. : The Nasscom Foundation, with support from the Optum CSR initiative, has announced the launch of STEM Scholars: Shaping the Next Generation of Innovators, a scholarship programme aimed at empowering underprivileged and economically disadvantaged students pursuing studies in STEM disciplines.
The initiative is designed to support students in their advanced years of higher education by offering financial assistance, mentorship, and internship opportunities. It targets 3rd and 4th-year students enrolled in B.E. or B.Tech programmes, as well as students studying Pharmacy or Life Sciences, across Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad.
Students pursuing five-year integrated engineering programmes such as B.Tech plus M.Tech or B.E. plus M.E. are also eligible, provided they are currently in their 4th or 5th year. Applications are open to candidates studying in both government and private institutions within the eligible cities.
As part of its inclusive approach, the programme gives preference to students from SC, ST, OBC, PwD categories, as well as girls, single-parent children, and orphans. Applicants must have secured at least 65 percent marks in Class 12 and should have an annual family income not exceeding INR 8 lakh. Children of employees, partners, or donors associated with the programme are not eligible.
Selected candidates will receive a one-year scholarship of INR 30,000, which aims to ease financial challenges and help students focus on academic and professional growth.
