The Department of English and Foreign Languages, Central University of Haryana (CUH),
Mahendergarh organized ‘Shakespeare Day Celebration’ to celebrate the famous Elizabethan
dramatist William Shakespeare’s birth anniversary. Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice-Chancellor
of the University appreciated the efforts of students and congratulated the department for
organising such a vibrant event. He also said that there is need to organise such events in future
so that students can learn language skills by directly engaging themselves in such activities.
Many performances, including the opening scene of King Lear, the witches scene from Macbeth,
soliloquies, sonnet recitation, dance performances etc. were given by the students. A quiz contest
was also conducted on Shakespeare. Registrar Prof. Sunil Kumar; Prof. Sunita Shrivastava; Prof.
Sanjiv Kumar, HoD, Department of English & Foreign Languages; Prof. Birpal Singh, HoD,
Department of Hindi; CoE Prof. Rajiv Kaushik teachers and students from different departments
graced the occasion with their presence.
