Chandigarh : The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) has officially finalised the entrepreneurship curriculum for Class 12, completing a structured two-year learning pathway designed to strengthen innovation, startup creation and self-employment among senior secondary students.
Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains announced the development on Thursday, calling it a major step in shaping a job-creator mindset among the state’s youth.
This curriculum builds on the ‘Business Blaster Programme’ introduced for Class 11 students in the 2022–23 academic year, ensuring that students can now continue their entrepreneurship journey seamlessly in Class 12.
A Statewide Push for Entrepreneurship Education
According to the minister, entrepreneurship has been declared a compulsory subject across 3,692 senior secondary schools in Punjab.
To support implementation:
- 10,382 teachers have been trained
- 231 master trainers have been prepared
- 104 specialised programmes were conducted over the last two years
These efforts highlight the state’s commitment to strengthening practical, future-ready skills among students.
Curriculum Completed Ahead of Time
The Class 12 entrepreneurship textbooks and curriculum have been developed well in advance, ensuring that nearly 5.60 lakh students can pursue the subject without interruption in the 2026–27 academic session.
The syllabus is designed to offer hands-on exposure to real entrepreneurial processes and includes:
- Startup challenges and validation
- Legal and regulatory procedures
- Budgeting and financial planning
- Business modelling
- Sustainable venture development
- Preparing Job Creators, Not Just Jobseekers
Harjot Singh Bains said the initiative will empower students with the mindset and capability needed to become job providers. He added that Punjab’s youth are increasingly inclined toward innovative, non-traditional career paths and exploring entrepreneurial opportunities.
The rollout of this curriculum fulfils a major commitment by the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government, which aims to strengthen entrepreneurship and innovation education across government and recognised schools.
Expanding the Business Blaster Foundation
The new Class 12 programme builds on the foundation established through the Business Blaster initiative. It will help students:
- Identify and analyse real-world problems
- Design product or service solutions
- Plan and build viable business ideas
- Gain confidence in pursuing entrepreneurial ventures
By nurturing innovation and practical business knowledge, Punjab hopes to accelerate the growth of a new generation of young entrepreneurs who can contribute significantly to the state’s economic development.
