Aligarh - Prof. Shambhunath Tiwari from the Department of Hindi, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), delivered an insightful address at the three-day World Urdu Conference organised by the National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language at the India International Centre, New Delhi. During a technical session, he highlighted the deep emotional and literary connections between Urdu and other Indian languages.
Speaking on India’s national identity, Prof. Tiwari noted that shared cultural symbols such as Ram, Krishna, the Ganga, and the Himalayas are reflected across Indian literatures, representing a common emotional and cultural heritage. He stressed that sustained literary interactions among Sanskrit, Hindi, and Urdu have played a significant role in fostering cultural harmony and reinforcing India’s multilingual and pluralistic traditions.
Referring to the conference theme, “Many Languages, One Emotion,” he observed that while languages may differ in structure and expression, the emotions they convey are universal. Such exchanges, he said, are vital in promoting social cohesion and communal harmony in a diverse nation like India.
The participation of AMU faculty in the prestigious conference reaffirms the university’s commitment to academic dialogue and the promotion of linguistic and cultural understanding at national and international platforms.
