Haryana The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication in Central University of Haryana has organized
a one-day workshop on SLR for Communication Studies diligent scholars from reputed universities were
invited for the workshop. Professor Pradeep Nair from Central University of Himachal Pradesh, Dr. Rubal
Kanozia, Assistant Professor from Central University of Punjab, Dr. Shriram Pandey, Associate Professor
in Central University of Haryana and Professor Harish Kumar from Central University of Haryana
delivered their talk on various dimensions of SLR. Vice Chancellor Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar
congratulated the department for the successful workshop. 50 participants from the 20 different
universities of the country participated in this workshop.
The whole event was divided into 4 sessions, each being addressed by the respective guests of the day,
followed by question answer session. With the objective of providing guidance to the emerging scholars
in the field of Communication, experts shared their experience and knowledge regarding SLR. They
shared valuable information regarding research and clarify doubts of the emerging scholars.Prof.
Pradeep Nair who has briefly introduce about SLR and emphasize on evidence based research which is
the foundation of Systematic Literature Review. He said that researcher needs to take advantage of new
technology for good research work. He said that SLR helps in finding errors as it is more concerned
about evidence, it is a vast method used to Identify, Select and Evaluate the available scholarship. Dr.
Rubal Kanozia emphasize on giving enough time for reading and evaluating a research paper for SLR.
One should at least dedicate a week for a paper in order to grasp its full understanding and perspective.
A key tip was given by Dr. Rubal to scholars is to make a list of all the scholars in one's field of study and
to follow their papers. Speaking about Novelty in Research he elucidates the fact that novelty lies in the
output, not in the research. Otherwise it would not have been re-search, it would be search only. Prof.
Harish has briefly discussed on Research Methodology. He talked about Reference Management
Software, how to find journal, Literature Review, UGC Care listed journals and Clone Journals. Dr.
Shriram Pandey speaks about the importance of SLR, a process through which one can synthesize high
quality of research evidences. SLR plays an important role in research field as it helps in identifying
research gaps easily, it is a rigorous scientific methodology, one can easily draw quick inferences
through SLR. Through SLR a researcher can attract more citations and it enhances the chances of
publication as well.
Dignitaries covered all the aspects related to Research in the Communication field making it an engaging
and fruitful session for both the scholars and students. Emphasizing on the indispensable role of SLR in
Research, Dr. Ashok Kumar thanks the resource person for sharing their wisdom with the scholar and
the student of the department.
