Rajasthan Records Over 12 Lakh New Admissions in Government Schools for 2025 26

State sees more than double enrolment boost under Praveshotsav campaign; ranks 3rd nationally in education survey as public confidence in government schools rises

Rajasthan: Witnessed a dramatic surge in student enrolments in government schools, with over **12.27 lakh new admissions** recorded for the academic year 2025–26. **Education Minister Madan Dilawar** announced the figures on Monday, crediting the growth to rising trust in government institutions and sweeping reforms under the **Praveshotsav campaign**.

The latest figures represent a **more than twofold increase** compared to last year’s 5.97 lakh admissions, signaling a turning point for the state’s public education system. Minister Dilawar noted that the success reflects improved school standards, upgraded infrastructure, and community-focused initiatives aimed at drawing students back to government schools.

“The inclination towards government schools has clearly grown. This is the result of consistent efforts over the last one and a half years to raise the quality of education,” said Dilawar.

Key Drivers of Growth

The Praveshotsav campaign, which extended the admissions deadline for Classes 9 to 12 until August 16, played a crucial role in encouraging more students to enroll. School-level outreach activities, mass mobilization drives, and awareness campaigns across rural and urban areas contributed significantly to the rise in numbers.

Academic performance has also played a role. Rajasthan’s students posted impressive results in recent RBSE examinations:

  • Class 12 pass rates - 98.4% in Science, 99% in Commerce, and 97.8% in Humanities
  • Class 10 - 93.6% pass rate
  • Class 8 - 96.6% pass rate

These achievements have further bolstered public confidence in the quality of education offered by state-run schools.

National Recognition and Infrastructure Boost

Rajasthan has also climbed the national education rankings—**moving from 13th/14th place to 3rd**—in recent education surveys, a testament to the improving learning outcomes across the state.

Minister Dilawar emphasized the role of infrastructure upgrades in this transformation. Initiatives include:

  • Introduction of **smart classrooms and IT labs**
  • Timely distribution of textbooks
  • Student engagement strategies like **birthday celebrations** in English medium schools

Challenges Ahead

While officials have celebrated the surge in admissions, teachers' associations and education experts have called for sustained focus on infrastructure development, particularly in **Anganwadi centres and rural schools**, to ensure that improved enrolments are matched with high-quality learning experiences.

The Rajasthan government aims to build on this momentum to make public education more accessible, inclusive, and future-ready.
