National Webinar on “Pharmacovigilance and Regulatory Affair” conducted at CUH

:- Around 150 research scholars and faculty members from India and abroad, such as International Medical University, Malaysia; UCSI, Malaysia; Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra; Bhim Rao Ambedkar University among others also attended and gained knowledge about Pharmacovigilance and Regulatory Affair

 

Haryana: A national webinar on “Pharmacovigilance and Regulatory Affair” was organized by the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and School of Interdisciplinary and applied sciences at Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendergarh. Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar of Central University of Haryana, Mahendergarh inaugurated the webinar and emphasized the drug safety and regulatory requirements. He appreciated the initiative taken by the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences to conduct such a program specifically for research scholars and faculty members working in the field of drug discovery and formulation development process. 

Prof. Neelam Sangwan, Chairperson, Vigyan Prabha Lecture series, Dean SIAS and Dean Research delivered the welcome address and briefed about the workshop program. She also informed that such webinars would also be conducted in the future in order to give an opportunity to the scholars to interact with eminent resource persons. 

Dr. Dinesh Kumar, Head, and Convener of the event informed us that Pharmacovigilance and Regulatory Affair plays a key role in the healthcare system by assuring the safety of medicine and vaccines. He told that around 150 research scholars and faculty members from India and abroad, such as International Medical University, Malaysia; UCSI, Malaysia; Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra; Bhim Rao Ambedkar University; Madan Mohan Malviya University of Technology, Kurukshetra, Shri Ramswaroop Memorial University, Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar also attended and gained knowledge about Pharmacovigilance and Regulatory Affair.

Dr. Manisha informed that Distinguished industry expert and researcher Mr. Rajneesh Singh, an industry expert conducted the webinar. He said that " the Indian population is the largest source of human biodiversity, representing a perfect model to study efficacy, disease susceptibility, etiology, molecular pathology, and safety profile of drugs with respect to genetic diversity. 

Excellent potential for skilled human resources is required for an effective PV system. Healthcare professionals should consider Adverse Drug Reaction (ADR) reporting as part of their professional obligation and participate in the existing pharmacovigilance programs in their countries”. On this occasion, Prof. Vandana B. Patravale, Prof. Shubhini A. Saraf, Dr. Hira Choudhury, Dr. Bapi Gorain, and Dr. Palaniswamy were also present at this event.
