Lucknow: Lucknow University has launched a new in-house internship programme for students. This project is known as the Karmoday scheme, and according to the institution, it coincides with the recommendations made in the National Education Policy, NEP 2020.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Alok Kumar Rai started the Karmoday initiative to put clause 12 of NEP2020 into action, which emphasizes proper student support focused on the development of capacities among students in higher education.

According to the Dean of Students Welfare at Lucknow University, the plan will be in line with NEP 2020 and will also provide students with an environment that will help them develop and strengthen their abilities.

About the Internship:

The internship for students will be for a minimum of 50 days and a maximum of one semester under the Karmoday scheme. According to reports, the maximum working hours for pupils will be two hours each day, evenly spread over a two-month period. The internship scheme will enhance students' resumes because they will be given a certificate of completion once they complete the internship. The internships will be unpaid and will provide students with a hands-on learning experience infused with work ideals such as respect for the work they do. They should also enroll in Lucknow University's normal or self-finance courses. Students can apply for the Karmoday plan if they passed their prior exams with a minimum of 60% and had at least 75% attendance in the previous academic semester/year. Students from various backgrounds can participate in the Karmoday scheme and get internships.

The programme was designed for students who were unable to apply for the Karmyogi programme.

Previously, Lucknow University had established the Karmyogi scheme, which was heavily criticised by many students for its lack of inclusion, as the scheme only permitted students with a family income of less than Rs. 3 lakh per year to participate.
