UIET, KUK conducted 'Alumni Talk and Mentorship series'

Former students of the UIET, KUK guided budding engineers with career options, entrepreneurship, Internship and placement opportunities.

 

 

Kurukshetrta, 30 March 2023: On Wednesday, The University Institute of Engineering and Technology, Kurukshetra University had conducted an ‘Alumni Talk and Mentorship Series at its premises.’ The series of three sessions held up to guide budding engineers with career options, entrepreneurship, Internship and placement opportunities.

The Keynote speakers of the sessions were the former students of UIET, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra.  Alumni Kunal Taneja of (CSE Batch 2013-17) , Mohit Sharma of (CSE Branch 2016-20) and Dev Sharma of (CSE Branch 2016-20) were invited  as a Keynote speakers in the UIET,KUK.

DR. Reeta Dhaiya, Himanshu (CSE 3rd Year), Vyom (CSE 3rd Year), Abhinandan (CSE 4th Year) and  Ansh (CSE 4th Year), were the coordinators of the session.

On the occasion, Mohit Sharma, alumni (CSE batch 2016-20) introduced students with available career options and methods to choose the right career. He shared his eight years of experience in the corporate world. He suggested students the ways to stand out and get noticed in the Industry. He said, “there are lot of ways to get noticed in the busy industry but lack of awareness become a hurdle between the path.” Following this statement he informed students about the ways and job platforms to get the desired job. He told that having Linkedin Profile, Networkings, Resume, Github Profile, Alumni Network and social groups work best to get well paid jobs. Additionally, he suggested students to develop skills in themselves. Quoting, ‘companies will come to you for hiring if you were skilled and passionate - he ended up his part.

Furthermore in the session, the other Keynote Speaker Kunal Taneja by introducing himself to students talked upon Post B.TECH career options. He discussed the most and less preferred jobs in the IT industry and reasons behind the preferences. He counted Civil Services, CAT (MBA), other government jobs in most preferred and Entrepreneurship, Data Science and Other private jobs in less preferred ones. He further told the reasons behind these preferences. He said that ‘students like to be in comfort zone but they were actually unaware that the comfort zone they were living is the hurdle between their career.’ Adding up, he said ‘we have become a sheep walking behind shepherd; we put those things in the less preference list which actually can be a noble occupation for a child.’

Moreover, Dev Sharma, one of the alumni and a keynote speaker in the session conveyed his views by telling students the importance of Innovation and startup ideas. He said, ‘innovation is the foundation of our and even society’s development.’  With this statement, he introduced students with the new age market. He suggested students to keep clear vision over things and guided students with the steps to initiate a startup. Moreover, he encouraged students to generate ideas and taught them the concept of entrepreneurship. He also introduced students with his prior startup and tried to inculcate startup ideas in students.

Subsequently, after alumni talk the Q&A session had started in which students asked several questions to speakers. Meanwhile, the speakers had answered question asked upon skill needed for the industry, reasons behind layoffs and market scenario.

Lastly, Speakers were honored by the staff teachers of UIET, KUK. With this felicitation program, the session ended up on a good note. Dr. Savita Gill, Dr. Pragya, Dr. Saumya and around 200 students were present at the session.
