New Delhi :- Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) Vice Chancellor Prof. Najma Akhtar (Padma Shri) today said that there is need for Government, Industry and academia to come together to find sustainable solutions to tackle National challenges such as Poverty, Education, Health care, Unemployment , Climate change etc.
The Vice Chancellor was addressing a gathering of eminent experts from Industry and Academia in the ‘Productivity and Business Conference’ as Chief Guest at India International Centre, New Delhi. The conference was organised by World Confederation of Productivity Science (India) –WCPS (I) on the theme “Enhancing Productivity for Sustainable Business Growth”.
Prof. Akhtar also said that in a rapidly evolving global landscape, businesses face the dual challenge of achieving sustainable growth while maintaining a competitive edge. Productivity, the efficient use of resources to generate value, emerges as a critical factor in achieving this delicate balance. “We find ourselves at a crossroads, where the decisions we make today will ripple through the future of our organizations and the larger world. Therefore, understanding the nexus between productivity and sustainable growth becomes vital.” said the Vice chancellor.
Prof. Najma Akhtar, appreciated the initiatives of WCPS (I), in creating awareness on latest trends in Productivity, and Industry -Academia partnership in promoting productivity. She said that the Theme and sub-themes for conference have been appropriately selected to focus on the challenges and applications of productivity. She also released the Souvenir published for the Conference.
While welcoming the Delegates, Speakers and Guests, Shri Abdul Kalam, President of National Body WCPS (I), emphasized that the key role of WCPS (I) is to recognize those who have made a significant contribution to the promotion or development of productivity science. He said that promoting productivity is the only way to create additional global wealth, without creating economic inflation, and WCPS (I) is the only organisation in India, fully committed to propagation of the productivity movement across all sectors.
A special address was also delivered by Shri K.Biswal, Former President WCPS (I), and a Presidential Address by Dr.M.P.Narayanan Patron WCPS(I) and Former Chairman Coal India Ltd. At the Valedictory session Ms. Veena Swarup, Conference Chair and Former Dir (HR) EIL, summed up the proceedings of the conference and flagged the key issues discussed for enhancing productivity, and their relevance in current business scenario.
The WCPS (I) is a Non-governmental Organisation affiliated to the World Body of WCPS, working actively since 1969 to promote productivity science worldwide.
