JNMC AMU Advances Integrative Medical Education with Expert Lecture on Natural Healing

Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University, organised a guest lecture titled “Healing the Natural Way” to promote integrative and holistic perspectives in medical education. The session highlighted the growing relevance of naturopathy, preventive medicine, and lifestyle correction in modern healthcare systems.

Aligah -  The Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College of Aligarh Muslim University continues to expand its academic horizons by promoting integrative and patient-centric medical education. In this direction, the Department of Pharmacology organized a guest lecture titled "Healing in Natural Way" at the college seminar room. 

Delivering the keynote address, Dr. P. A. Kareem, Founder of Hygiene Hospital for Naturopathy, Chennamangallur, Calicut, Kerala, elaborated on the principles of natural healing, lifestyle correction, and preventive medicine. He emphasised the naturopathy focuses on identifying and addressing the root causes of illness rather than merely managing symptoms. Highlighting the importance of diet, hygiene , physical activity and mental well-being, he understood code the role of a holistic approaches in long term-health promotions. 

In his welcome address, Prof. Syed Ziaur Rahman, Chairman, Department of Pharmacology, noted the growing global recognition of integrative and lifestyle-based approaches in contemporary healthcare systems. He observed that evidence-based natural healing methods are increasingly valued for disease prevention and reducing lifestyle-related disorders.

The interactive question-and-answer session was moderated by Dr. Sarah Musavi, Community Builder Health Coach from Ottawa, Canada. She encouraged active participation from students and faculty and stressed that community-based health education and patient empowerment are central to sustainable healthcare delivery. The session also explored how academic dialogues can bridge the gap between conventional medicine and holistic wellness practices.

Er. Mujeeb Akhtar (KNPC, Kuwait) outlined the professional journeys of the  invited speakers and described the lecture as academically enriching and highly relavant for the medical fraternity. Presiding ovef the programme, Prof. Javaid Akhter, Former Dean, Faculty of Management Studies and Research, appreciated the interdisciplinary initiative and remarked that openness to alternative health systems strengthen academic institutions and broadens the outlook of future healthcare professionals.

The programme was coordinated by Dr. Isna Rafat Khan, Resident, Department of Pharmacology, and witnessed participation from faculty members, researchers and post graduate students, reaffirming JNMC's commitment to forward-looking and inclusive medical educations.
