JMI's American Society of Civil Engineer (ASCE) organises Technical Fest “Thrive 2.0”

Thrive 2.0 provided a platform for learning, skill development, and camaraderie, making it a memorable and enriching experience for all involved.

New Delhi :- The international students chapter of the professional technical society, the American Society of Civil Engineer (ASCE) of the Department of Civil Engineering, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), organized a Technical Festival “Thrive 2.0” on 1st March, 2024 to commemorate India’s endeavour for Viksit Bharat.

Dr. Ibadur Rahman, Assistant Professor, Faculty Advisor (ASCE) & Technical Fest Coordinator gave a warm Welcome Address, emphasizing on the pivotal role of civil engineering in shaping the modern world, underscoring its significance in infrastructure development, sustainability, and societal progress.

Following the welcome address, Prof. Mini Thomas, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering & Technology at JMI, inaugurated the event. She highlighted the interdisciplinary nature of Civil Engineering emphasizing the integration of the latest technologies, such as machine learning into the field, the need for adaptability and innovation in addressing contemporary challenges.

Officiating Head of the Department, Prof. Nazrul Islam spoke about the job prospects and career opportunities within the realm of Civil Engineering. He encouraged students to take part in these events and told them about the importance of Civil Engineers in various fields.

Dr. Mohd. Aamir Mazhar delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all attendees, speakers, sponsors, and organizers for their contributions to making Thrive 2.0 a reality.

Thrive 2.0 was filled with engaging activities like Bridge Building, CAD Modelling, and Traffic Management to skill-building exercises such as Concrete Cube Making and Mock Interviews, participants were challenged and inspired throughout the day.

The fest also included intellectually stimulating competitions like the General Quiz, Poster Making, and Extempore, fostering creativity and critical thinking. Notably, an Expert Lecture by Mr. S.K. Vij, Former Member Engineering Railway Board, Ministry of Railways was very interesting. Mr. S.k. Vij enlightens the students about various disciplines of Civil Engineering. Additionally, recreational activities like Treasure Hunt and a BGMI Tournament added a touch of excitement and camaraderie to the event, making Thrive 2.0 a holistic and enriching experience for all participants. The Involvement of external judges, Dr. Saba Bashir from the English Department and Dr. Adila Parveen from the Physiotherapy Center, added academic rigor and diverse perspectives to events such as Extempore and Poster Making.

The Faculty Advisor & Technical Fest Coordinator, Dr. Ibadur Rahman concluded the event thanking all the members of the organizing committee, the sponsors of the fest (Autoroutes Designers, Frog Cellsat, and Alex Associates) and the volunteers for their support.
