New Delhi: English Literary Association, Department of English, Jamia Millia Islamia organized the Lexicon ‘22 event, conducted on 14th & 15th of March. The event was based on the overarching theme of Kintsugi; a Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum. This theme was to reflect the mending that has been taking place in everyone’s lives ever since the global pandemic.

The Chief Guest, Amit Chaudhuri drew upon Kintsugi to portray enunciations of Modernism and Renaissance. The thematic occurrence continued throughout this literary fest, starting off with a Panel Discussion of “Loving the Broken Souls: Tales of Trauma”. The discussion was joined in by the chief guest himself, along with Sabarna Roy, Kevin S. Missal and Akshat Gupta, who all shared their unique insights bounded by this topic.

Antar Atreya judged the event of Besserung. The participants of the event shared their method of solace which kept them grounded in times of constant quakes, through any type of art, from TV shows to books, music, paintings or poems.

Expressing their journey within the theme of “Sonder Thoughts” students came in for the Creative Writing competition, introspecting their emotions and varying experiences. The event was judged by Dr. Saba Bashir.

Followed by the aforementioned Day 1 events, Day 2 started off with Entry and Registration. The first event was the Slam Poetry event with the provided theme of “Recurring”- voicing in verse one’s own thoughts on the frequent concerns of throughout time.

The second last event of the fest was the Open Mic event with the theme of “A Healing Touch for The Soul” and concluding the event was the Valedictory of Lexicon ‘22 with the Chief Guest being Meena Kandasamy.
