New Delhi: IEEE Power Electronics Society Student Chapter-Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi organized an online Distinguished Lecture on the Role of Power Electronics in Green Technology by Prof. S K Panda on May 6, 2022 on the topic “Single Phase Inverter Control Techniques for Interfacing Renewable Energy Sources”. 

Prof. Panda said that climate change is a biggest threat for the humankind. The same can be countered by reducing on dependence on fossil fuel to eliminate carbon emission and by switching over to renewable sources of energy.

Prof. Panda also emphasized that India has a huge potential to use renewable energy sources for electricity generation. As per Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Govt. of India’s technical report, India has potential to generate 750 GW electricity from Solar energy.

Prof. S K Panda is M.Tech graduate from IT BHU, India and Ph.D. from University of Cambridge UK. He is Fellow of IEEE and working as Professor and Director of Power and Energy Research area at National University of Singapore.

Around 100 participants attended the lecture. These participants were from various educational institutes of India and abroad. 

Prof. Panda also interacted with participants and answered their queries
