JMI organises Session on Pandemic, Education of Marginalised Children, and the Role of Creativity

The session was conducted to engage in collaborative learning with field practitioners.

New Delhi: Department of Social Work, Jamia Millia Islamia(JMI), and Ankur Society for Alternatives in Education organized an interactive session on the impact on the education of marginalized children on March 29, 2023. The session was coordinated by Dr. Rashmi Jain, the student advisor. The session was conducted to engage in collaborative learning with field practioners.

As per the official press release, Prof. Neelam Sukhramani, Head of the Department of Social Work, asked the participants to ponder the questions related to the meaning of education, the purpose of education, and the acquisition of education. Two alumni of the Department of Social Work, JMI, Ms. Hadeeqat ul Yesrib, and Mr. Vipul Kumar Jha elaborated on the findings of their master’s dissertation pertaining to the impact of the pandemic on education.

“Ms. Hadeeqat’s research focused on the social and educational life of children living in prolonged lockdown in Pulwama, Jammu, and Kashmir, and Mr. Vipul Kumar Jha examined the
access to online learning platforms and the opportunities that arose therefrom.,“ the release said.

The team from Ankur included Ms. Sharmila Bhagat, Mr. Yajuvendra Nagar, and Ms. Rishika. They shared their work which includes developing critical thinking in the children and empowering them with the help of education. The session ended with Dr. Rashmi Jain expressing a vote of thanks to all involved in the event.
