JMI and ISB signs important MoU to boost “Forest Economy”

This MoU focuses on fostering academic and knowledge collaboration between AJKMCRC and ISB-BIPP for effective implementation of ISB-BIPP’s large-scale landscape level initiative to build a scalable and sustainable forest economy and livelihood anchored around Community Forest Resource Rights (CFR) and Women-led Enterprises.

AJK Mass Communication Research Centre (AJKMCRC), Jamia Millia Islamia(JMI) signed a very important MoU with the Indian School of Business (ISB) through its research institute Bharti Institute of Public Policy(BIPP) to boost the “Forest Economy”. Under this MoU both the institutions will work together to empower forest dwellers by providing them with information on ways and means to market the forest produce, which is the primary source of their livelihood. Various mass media techniques and programmes will be used to disseminate information to forest dwellers.

Expressing her happiness on the development, JMI Vice Chancellor Prof. Najma Akhtar said “This is a very positive step to achieve sustainable development goal. Signing of the MoU with ISB will also pave the way for further collaborations between other departments of the university and ISB”.

In resonance with the spirit of the MoU, Prof. Ashwini Chhatre, Executive Director, ISB-BIPP said “A renaissance in storytelling is on the horizon, with students articulating the vision of a sustainable forest economy to address national and global challenges in sustainable development. Students armed with the knowledge and experience from this collaboration will become ambassadors of change to realize the vision of forests as spaces of opportunity”.

As part of the MoU, both the institutions will work together to exchange information on research and educational programmes, teaching, learning material and other literature relevant to their educational and research programmes. Both the institutions will jointly organize short-term education programmes on topics of mutual interest and invite each other’s faculty to participate therein. 

Both Institutions will jointly organize seminars, conferences, or workshops on topics of mutual interest and invite each other’s faculty in it. They will jointly propose and engage in research or training programmes sponsored by funding agencies, and invite each other’s faculty to participate therein and they will exchange, on a reciprocal basis, students at Undergraduate, Graduate and Doctoral levels for limited periods of time for the purpose of education and /or research.
