J&K Reviews Education Reforms with Centre

Focus on NEP 2020, PM SHRI Schools, and bridging infrastructure gaps

Srinagar : Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo on Tuesday held a meeting with Union Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSEL), Sanjay Kumar to review the progress of education reforms in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

The meeting discussed measures to strengthen the education system, bridge infrastructural gaps, streamline human resource management, and bring out-of-school children into mainstream learning.

A major focus was placed on aligning the UT’s education system with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasizes holistic, inclusive, and skill-oriented learning. Dulloo stressed that reforms must reach every classroom, highlighting early adoption of digital tools, vocational training, and mother tongue–based foundational education.

The progress of PM SHRI Schools in J&K was also reviewed. Plans are underway to upgrade selected schools with modern infrastructure, smart classrooms, and innovative teaching practices, turning them into model institutions of excellence.

Union Education Secretary Sanjay Kumar appreciated the UT’s efforts and assured full support from the Centre in implementing NEP and PM SHRI. He emphasized capacity building of teachers, integration of technology, and a robust monitoring system to ensure desired outcomes.

Chief Secretary Dulloo said the initiatives will not only raise the quality of education but also prepare students of Jammu and Kashmir with the skills required to thrive in a competitive global environment.
