Gurugram Launches NEP Training Programme for Senior Secondary Government School Principals

Gurugram has begun a district-level NEP 2020 training programme for around 200 senior secondary government school principals, led by the District Institute of Education and Training.

A district-level capacity building initiative under the National Education Policy 2020 has been launched in Gurugram to strengthen school leadership and enhance the on-ground implementation of NEP reforms. The District Institute of Education and Training is conducting the programme in multiple phases, beginning with senior secondary government school principals.

The first phase of the training, held from November 17 to 19, includes principals from the Gurugram cluster. The second phase, scheduled from November 20 to 22, will train principals from Farrukhnagar, Sohna and Pataudi. DIET officials shared that nearly 200 principals are expected to participate in the first phase, while training for government primary school principals will be conducted later.

The programme focuses on building leadership capacities aligned with NEP 2020. District Education Officer Saroj Dahiya emphasised that the training aims to support principals in strategic planning, policy understanding and implementing NEP mandates effectively.

Over three days, participants will undergo sessions on NEP fundamentals, design thinking, competency-based education, life skills, the National Curriculum Framework 2023 and the evolving roles of school heads and teachers. Each day will begin with feedback sessions to identify gaps and strengthen learning outcomes. According to DIET lecturers, the programme is structured to empower school leaders and promote a skill-driven, future-ready education system across Gurugram.
