Haryana :- The Department of Environmental Studies at Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendergarh concluded a two-day celebration of Earth Day on the theme "Planet VS Plastics."Prof.Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice Chancellor of the University conveyed his message that Department of Environmental Studies conducted a wonderful event on the Earth Day for protecting and preserving our mother. He mentioned that two-day Earth Day celebrations stand as a commendable example of an academic institution taking initiative to raise awareness and inspire positive environmental action.
Prof.Sushma Yadav, Pro Vice-Chancellor highlighted the role of plastic and how plastic entered in our life and creating problems for maintaining the ecosystem. She emphasized the department's dedication to fostering environmental consciousness and empowering students to become responsible stewards of the planet. Prof.Sunita Srivastava, First Lady of the University said that each day must be celebrated as earth day and we should respect our environment and its surroundings. She expressed their delight at the student turnout and participation throughout the two days.
Prof.NeelamSangwan, Dean, School of Interdisciplinary and Applied Sciences introduced today’s speaker, renowned environmentalist, Dr.Praveen Kumar, Director, National Mission for Clean Ganga. She told the importance of cleanliness drive and such awareness campaigns and encouraged the students of the university for more and more participation.Dr.Pravin Kumar offered valuable insights and inspiring action towards a sustainable future. He delivered a wonderful talk on river rejuvenation under NamamiGange.
Dr. Mona Sharma, Head of the Department and Convener of the program welcomed all the guests and told about the various activities conducted during this two-day program. Dr. Mona further informed that the celebrations culminated in a prize distribution ceremony and following winners RitikTyagi, Niveditha, and Vivek Kumar got the awards for quiz and Riya Naswin CK, Aneesh Sharma, Anu for slogan competition, aiming to encourage continued environmental commitment among the University community.Dr.Smita, coordinator proposed vote of thanks at the end. At this occasion Dr. Anita Singh, Dr. Vikram Singh, Dr.Anoop Yadav, Dr.Bhupendra Singh, Dr.Dushyant Kumar, Dr.Sushma, Dr. Sunil Kumar, students and Ph.D. scholars were available. While the event has concluded, the department's commitment to environmental education continues.
