New Delhi - The Department of History at Jesus and Mary College, University of Delhi, has announced an interactive workshop titled “Fairy Tales, Orphans and Happy Endings”, scheduled to be held on 04 February 2026.
The workshop will be conducted by Aparna Vaidik, Historian and Psychotherapist, and Professor at Ashoka University. The session aims to bring together historical analysis and psychological perspectives to examine how unconscious narratives shape historical understanding
Drawing on the story of The Jungle Book and the character of Mowgli-the feral orphan raised by wolves- the workshop will engage with theoretical frameworks such as Stephen Karpman's Drama Triangle and Eric Berne's concept of Group Imago. The discussion will highlight the dimensions of storytelling and the unconscious that are often is overlooked in conventional histographical practice, demonstrating how much approaches can enrich historian's analytical toolkit.
The workshop will take place from 12:30 PM to 2 PM. At the AV Room of Jesus and Mary college. Participants are encouraged to bring pens and paper for interactive activities during the session.
The programme is convened by Dr. Maya John, with Dr. Blessy C. Abraham as Co-Convener. The event reflects the department’s commitment to interdisciplinary learning and innovative approaches to the study of history.
