CUH faculty member Prof. Rupesh Deshmukh Honored as Fellow of MAS

The announcement was made during the induction ceremony on December 23, 2024, where the list of fellows elected for 2024 was officially declared.

 

Mahendergarh : Prof. Rupesh Deshmukh, Head of the Department of Biotechnology, Central University of Haryana (CUH), Haryana was elected as a Fellow of the Maharashtra Academy of Sciences (MAS), a premier scientific learned society. The announcement was made during the induction ceremony on December 23, 2024, where the list of fellows elected for 2024 was officially declared.

Prof.Tankeshwar Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of the University congratulated Prof. Deshmukh on this significant achievement and highlighted the vital role of such recognitions in inspiring the academic community. Prof. Kumar emphasized the importance of scientific academies in addressing real-world challenges and aligning research efforts with local sustainable development goals. He also expressed the need for every state in India to have a dedicated science academy like MAS to foster scientific advancements.

The Maharashtra Academy of Sciences, established in 1976, is a prestigious institution dedicated to addressing scientific and technological issues confronting the state of Maharashtra. It provides recommendations to authorities for promoting science and technology while highlighting the pressing challenges in the field.

Prof. Deshmukh credited his achievement to the unwavering support of Vice-Chancellor Prof.Tankeshwar Kumar, who has played a pivotal role in ensuring world-class research facilities, internal seed grants, training sessions, and continuous motivation for faculty and researchers at CUH. Recently, under Prof.TankeshwarKumar’s leadership, CUH secured a monumental funding of ₹273.47 crores from the Higher Education Financing Agency (HEFA), Ministry of Education, Government of India. This funding is set to elevate the research standards at the university.

Prof.Pawan Kumar Maurya, a distinguished faculty member, was also present during the event. He briefed the gathering about the current research activities in the School of Interdisciplinary & Applied Sciences (SIAS), emphasizing its commitment to innovation and interdisciplinary approaches.
