CUH faculty receives project to conduct research on Hypovitaminosis D

Haryana State Council for Science, Innovation, and Technology (HSCSIT) has sanctioned funding of Rupees 30 Lacs to a Research and Development Project of Anita Kumari

 

Haryana: Haryana State Council for Science, Innovation, and Technology (HSCSIT) has sanctioned funding of Rupees 30 Lacs to a Research and Development Project of Anita Kumari, Assistant Professor in the Department of Nutrition Biology of Central University of Haryana (CUH), Mahendergarh. The Vice-Chancellor Prof. Tankeshwar Kumar congratulated the whole project team for receiving the research grant from HSCSIT and said that it will definitely boost the research activities in the university and provide the sustainable solutions for the management of vitamin D deficiency among vulnerable section of the society.

The HSCSIT has sanctioned the Research and Development project for the year 2022-23 based on the title “Development of Vitamin D enriched functional food products for the management of hypotavitamonis D among adolescent girls of Haryana” to Dr. Anita Kumari as Principal Investigator; Prof. Neelam Sangwan, Department of Biochemistry, CUH and Prof. Surender Singh, Department of Microbiology, CUH as Co-Principal Investigators for the period of three years. The mandate of the funding agency is to play a pivotal role among young scientists to pursue innovative research ideas which have direct impact on the society at a large scale. 

The project highlights are to assess the prevalence of hypovitaminosis D among adolescent girls of Haryana and its sustainable solutions via introducing Vitamin D enriched functional food products for the targeted population. The developed technology for the vitamin D enriched functional food products will be disseminated among local population through trainings which will be helpful in skill development, employment generation and management of the targeted disease. Prof. Sunil Kumar, Registrar; Prof. Dinesh Kumar, Dean academics and Prof. Kanti Prakash Sharma, Head, Department of Nutrition Biology have also congratulated the project team.
