CBSE Issues Advisory Against Fake News Ahead of Board Examinations 2026
New Delhi : The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a strong advisory cautioning students, parents, schools, and other stakeholders against the circulation of fake news and rumours ahead of the Class X and Class XII Board Examinations 2026, which are scheduled to begin from 17 February 2026.
In its official communication, CBSE noted that in previous years, unscrupulous elements have attempted to mislead students and parents by spreading false information on social media platforms during the examination period. Such misinformation often includes fake claims of question paper leaks and the circulation of forged or purported question papers, creating panic and confusion among examinees.
The Board has urged all stakeholders to remain alert and vigilant, and not to believe, engage with, or forward any unverified news, rumours, or misleading content. CBSE emphasized that such actions can cause unnecessary anxiety, disturb students’ focus, and negatively impact their exam preparation at this crucial stage.
CBSE further assured that robust arrangements and strict security measures have been put in place to ensure the smooth, secure, and fair conduct of the Board examinations, as has been done successfully in previous years. The Board warned that any attempt to spread misinformation or disrupt the examination process will be dealt with strictly under applicable rules and regulations.
For authentic information, official updates, and clarifications related to the Board examinations, stakeholders have been advised to rely only on CBSE’s verified official channels, including:
The official CBSE website: https://www.cbse.gov.in
Concerned CBSE Regional Offices or CBSE Headquarters, New Delhi (contact details available on the official website)
CBSE has appealed to students, parents, and schools to act responsibly and rely solely on official communications issued by the Board, in the larger public interest, to prevent the spread of misinformation during the examination period.
