CBSE Hosts National Adolescent Summit 2024: Empowering Youth for Holistic Development

"Fostering Life Skills and Mental Well-being: A Holistic Approach to Adolescent Development"


New Delhi, : The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) successfully organized the National Adolescent Summit 2024 on December 20-21 at the National Bal Bhawan, New Delhi. With the theme "Life Skills, Mental Health, Safety, and Well-being," the two-day summit brought together over 850 participants from India and abroad, fostering dialogue and collaboration on key adolescent issues.

Aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the summit provided a platform for students and educators to engage in meaningful conversations, showcasing CBSE's commitment to holistic education that nurtures life skills and emotional well-being.

Inauguration Highlights

The summit was inaugurated by Shri Rahul Singh, Chairman of CBSE, who emphasized the transformative nature of adolescence and the importance of education beyond textbooks. He encouraged students to embrace self-awareness, contribute to society, and shine through the summit's activities.

Shri Himanshu Gupta, Secretary of CBSE, addressed the challenges faced by students in today’s dynamic world, including information overload and shifting family dynamics. He stressed the need for robust counseling mechanisms in schools to ensure inclusive and supportive learning environments.

Key Highlights of the Summit

The event featured a variety of activities and exhibitions designed to empower students and promote creativity:

1. Health and Wellness Exhibition

Display of 120 innovative projects from schools across India, focusing on health and well-being.

2. Yuva Sansad

A youth parliament where 70 participants discussed critical adolescent issues.

3. UTSAV

Kalakriti: An on-the-spot painting competition with 110 creative entries.

Eloquence: The Young Orators Championship, which showcased debating skills and passion.

Tarang: Indian classical dance performances by 90 solo artists.

Pathshala Nukkad Ki: A theatrical exploration of contemporary themes.

4. Manovriti

Screening of 50 short films created by students, highlighting their unique perspectives.

5. Samvedna

Mentoring sessions with luminaries from diverse fields, engaging with student peer educators.

6. Q-Smart

The National Health & Wellness Quiz, which saw enthusiastic participation, requiring multiple sessions to accommodate interest.

The summit also included panel discussions, workshops for counselors and wellness teachers, and interactive sessions addressing student well-being.

Valedictory Ceremony

The summit concluded on December 21, 2024, with a valedictory ceremony featuring Shri Rajat Sharma, Chairman and Editor-in-Chief of India TV, as the special guest. Shri Sharma emphasized the importance of combating misinformation, addressing cybercrimes, and fostering critical thinking among youth. His interactive Q&A session offered valuable insights into adolescent challenges and highlighted the significance of initiatives like Pariksha Pe Charcha.

Winners of various competitions were honored with medals and certificates, celebrating their exceptional contributions.

A Collective Commitment to Well-being

The event concluded with participants taking a pledge to prioritize student well-being, strengthen mental health initiatives, and foster inclusive school environments. CBSE reaffirmed its dedication to empowering students through innovative programs, comprehensive counseling mechanisms, and collaborative efforts with families and communities.
