Varanasi: The Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has invited applications for contractual teaching positions under the Manpower Development Scheme (Scheme-A) of the National Mental Health Programme (NMHP) at the Centre of Excellence, Department of Psychiatry, Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS).
According to the official advertisement, the posts are purely temporary and coterminous with the scheme, initially up to March 31, 2026, with the possibility of extension based on performance and continuation of the programme. The walk-in interview schedule will be uploaded separately on the university’s official website.
The vacancies include Assistant Professor (Psychiatry), Associate and Assistant Professor (Clinical Psychology), Associate and Assistant Professor (Psychiatric Social Work), and Associate and Assistant Professor (Psychiatric Nursing). Each post carries a fixed monthly emolument ranging between ₹45,000 and ₹55,000.
Essential qualifications vary by discipline and include MD/DNB in Psychiatry, M.Phil or Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, Ph.D. in Social Work, and M.Sc Nursing with specialization in Psychiatric Nursing, along with specified teaching, clinical, and research experience. Preference will be given to candidates with publications in indexed journals.
Eligible candidates belonging to OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), SC/ST, EWS, and PwD categories will be considered as per Government of India norms.
