Awaiting approval from the Center for three new BTech courses in DU

:- Due to lack of approval from the Union Ministry of Education, the admission process is currently stuck

New Delhi: There are plans to start three new B.Tech courses in Delhi University but it is yet to be approved by the central government. Three new BTech courses in Delhi University are waiting for approval from the Centre. Due to lack of approval from the Union Ministry of Education, the admission process is currently stuck. As the DU course is yet to be approved by the Centre, the admission process has not been informed yet.

In December 2021, the statutory body of DU had approved the inclusion of three engineering courses. According to the report of TOI, these include BTech courses in computer science, electronics and communication, electrical engineering. For this, the university had asked for Rs 100 crore from the University Grants Commission (UGC). Subsequently, the Faculty of Technology was revamped and a new head was appointed.

Delhi University had also announced to set up new academic blocks for these new departments. DU had also constituted a committee to draft the course material and structure. Apart from BTech courses, the DU website has also listed the departments of Humanities, Architecture and Planning, Instrumentation and Control Engineering, Civil Engineering, Production and Industrial Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.

After Jawaharlal Nehru University, DU will be the next university to introduce technical courses. Dean of the faculty KS Rao said that the university wants to start the curriculum from this academic session. We have not notified the admission as we are waiting for approval from Ministry of Education for money and manpower. Giving information, he said that like other engineering colleges of the country and the prescribed procedure, we will also give admission to the students through joint entrance examination.
