87 Students Selected for Viksit Delhi CM Internship with ₹20,000 Stipend

Three-Month Programme to Provide Hands-On Experience in Governance

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday announced the launch of the first edition of the Viksit Delhi CM Internship Programme, under which 87 students have been selected from nearly 9,000 applicants.

The three-month internship will provide undergraduate and postgraduate students the opportunity to work closely with the Delhi government while receiving a monthly stipend of ₹20,000.

Calling it a landmark initiative, CM Gupta said, “This is the first time young people have been given a structured platform to participate directly in governance and policymaking. It’s not just an internship, it’s about co-creating the city’s future.”

She added that the programme would serve as a two-way learning process — with students offering fresh ideas and the government providing real-time administrative exposure. Areas of focus will include paperless governance, smarter policymaking, and data-driven administration.

The internship programme is set to begin this week, which the CM described as an important step in bridging the gap between Delhi’s youth and governance.
