BHU launches two scholarships under Pratidana initiative, gets Rs 10 lakh donation

He contributed significantly to Hindi literature as a writer. He authored many books, easy, story collections, poetry, plays, historical novels, songs and even translated several books ranging from political science, international affairs, education and more.

New Delhi. : The Banaras Hindu University has received a donation of Rs 10 lakh to institute two scholarships after Late Pt Ganga Ratan Pandey and his wife Jagrani Pandey. The donation has been given by their sons Prakash Pandey and Arun Pandey to honour their parents under the Pratidana initiative of the university.
The scholarships will be open for MA Hindi students on merit-cum-means basis and will be provided to one man and one woman student.
An alumnus of BHU, Pt Ganga Ratan Pandey completed his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the university. He was a student of MA Hindi in 1942 and was jailed for participating in the Quit India Movement. He was a trusted follower of Pt Madan Mohan Malaviya and actively participated in activities to gather philanthropic support for the university. He contributed significantly to Hindi literature as a writer. Pratidana initiative was launched by VC Sudhir Kumar Jain with the aim to support scholarships for meritorious students, need-based financial aid, enhance learning opportunities, promote excellence in teaching and enable impactful research among others.
