NLSIU looking to hire full time manager for facilities and projects in Bangalore, deadline is January 24

The manager’s payment will be based on the applicant’s experience and qualification, with the pay structure based on Level 9/10/11 as dictated in the CPC VII (Central Pay Commission)

 

Bengaluru : The National Law School of India University (NLSIU) is hiring for a full-time manager for facilities and projects based in Bangalore, and the deadline for submitting applications is January 24 (Tuesday). The manager’s payment will be based on the applicant’s experience and qualification, with the pay structure based on Level 9/10/11 as dictated in the CPC VII (Central Pay Commission).  The position’s duration will be confirmed after one year’s probation, with the tenure being permanent until the manager is 60 years old.

 

The manager’s responsibilities are as follows:

  • Overseeing, reviewing, and approving the work of external engineering designs and planning consultants, ensure that engineering designs follow contract demands and all relevant regulations and engineering standards
  • Being responsible for the upkeep, improvement and proper functioning of all facilities on campus, which includes civil, mechanical and electrical infrastructure
  • Responsibility over the maintenance, repair and improvement/replacing of all machines and equipment in the campus
  • Managing all Engineering documentation including civil drawings
  • Ensuring all expenses stay under the given budget
  • Performing regular inspections of equipment and scheduling their maintenance or repairs
  • Giving technical guidance to stakeholders and engineering teams
  • Analyzing inventory and reporting inconsistencies as well as ordering more materials
  • Understanding CAD drawings (Computer Aided Design Software)
  • Evaluating all products and processes and ensuring standardization of quality assurance measures
  • Participating in learning experiences, including attending workshops and training lessons
  • Calibrating and troubleshooting equipment as required
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties when required
  • In order to qualify, applicants need to have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with at least 55% aggregate marks, and have completed minimum 8 years of work experience in estate management of a residential campus. Applicants who have hands-on experience as a civil engineer are also desired.

 

The skills necessary for this position are as follows:

 

  • Multi-disciplinary expertise in engineering in various area of estate management
  • Proven experience in project management and governance of projects executed by vendors, ensuring on time and under/within budget completion
  • Knowledge of vendor networks for various services and market practices
  • Ability to interact and deal with relevant government authorities
  • Knowledge of the rules and regulations of city authorities including but not limited to the municipality, electricity and water boards, police, other utilities
  • Ability to drive a continuous service delivery outcome and plan through sufficient business continuity backups
  • Experience in driving sustainability initiatives (rain water, waste management, renewable energy etc.)
  • Filing and maintaining records of all documentation including maintenance contracts, insurance policy and claims and regulatory filing to civil authorities
  • Budget planning and spend management (including expense tracking), analysis of data and making based recommendations
  • Being on the ground and being hands-on, being able to work alone with no supervision and as part of a team
  • Solution driven, ability to problem solve and continuously improve the systems and processes
  • Being able to foresee and mitigate risks, planning and organizing, attention to detail
  • Should be able to offer technical guidance to stakeholders and the technical staff
  • Proficiency in Kannada, English and Hindi (able to read, write and speak in all languages)

 

The selection process is divided into two parts: the first part involves applicants being shortlisted in a 1:5 ratio after reviewing their applications against the number of vacancies for the Interview round (Part 2). Part 2 will see applicants being scored by an interview selection panel, with the total marks being out of 50. Applicants currently working at NLSIU are also allowed to apply for this position. They will automatically be selected for the interview segment and will be awarded 0.3 marks for every year they have spent working for NLSIU. They must still meet the educational qualifications and minimum years of work experience.
