JMI school teacher wins the prestigious Fulbright Award USA

 

New Delhi. : It is a matter of great pride that Ms. Ayesha Jameel, PGT (English), Syed Abid Husan Sr. Secondary School, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has been selected to participate in the U.S. Department of State’s Fulbright Teaching Excellence and Achievement Program (Fulbright TEA).

Ayesha would be representing JMI and India at Lowell, Massachusetts, USA this month. Ayesha will be attending seminars and doing coursework that will be able to enhance her teaching-learning tools. She would be able to bring back new strategies to her students and fellow colleagues. These specialized seminars will focus on the 21st century  teaching skills while also sharing their respective best practices in teaching. 

Ayesha will also get a chance to observe and co-teach classes in the U.S  school and would get the opportunity to take part in a variety of cultural and community activities.

The U.S Department of State initiates to promote girls’ education around the world, of which Ayesha and her peers will be part of. The program has been designed to integrate a gender and education focus throughout the academic seminars and workshops. 

The Fulbright Program is the world’s largest and most diverse international educational exchange program where its alumni have  become heads of state, judges, ambassadors, cabinet ministers, CEOs, university presidents, journalists, artists, scientists and teachers. They also include Nobel Laureates, Pulitzer Prize winners and so on.

In a special mention, Ayesha is grateful to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Najma Akhtar and her Principal, Dr Zafar Ahmad Siddiqui for believing in her and for encouraging her to participate on this prestigious international platform.
