Call given by DUTA for complete Shut down of DU against Kejriwal Govt was successful

New Delhi. : Today thousands of teaching and non-teaching employees of  different colleges of Delhi University participated in COMPLETE SHUT-DOWN of Delhi University call given by Delhi University Teachers Association to raise the voice and protest against the grants/funds cut of 12 DU colleges by Aam Aadmi Party led Kejriwal Govt. This unjustified funds cut has resulted in non-payment of salaries to thousands of employees of these 12 colleges for past 2 to 6 months and non reimbursement of Medical Bills, Allowances, 7CPC arrears etc for past two years thereby making these 12 colleges financially sick. Teachers exposed the hypocrisy of CM Kejriwal and Dy CM Manish Sisodiya and ridiculed the so called Education Model of Delhi Govt.
It is to be noted that the Leader-of-Opposition in Delhi Assembly Shri Ramvir Singh Bidhuri also raised question against this educational model and ridiculed it in Delhi Assembly yesterday. Families of employees of these 12 colleges are facing great distress. They are unable to pay EMI/ Bank installment, children's fee, treatment and other basic livelihood are in question for last two years.

The protest was led DUTA President, Prof Ajay Kumar Bhagi, office bearers, DUTA executives and all the teaching and non-teaching fraternity of DU by boycotting online classes and administrative work.
Delhi University and College  Karmachari Union(DUCKU) has also supported the call given by DUTA and issued a letter in this regard.

Delhi University Principal Association (DUPA) and Delhi University Teachers Association have agreed to come out with a joint statement on the issue and would also meet University Administration shortly for their
 intervention.

Prof Bhagi and all other DUTA office bearers created Twitter Storm by tweeting against the unjustified fund cut and asked the Delhi govt to repay all the dues and maintain continuity of fund supply in future. All the social media platform, facebook, whatsapp email were used to protest against the AAP led Kejriwal government.

Meanwhile, Delhi Government has issued a notification to hand over charge of these 12 Colleges to AOs, employees of Delhi Government in addition to their existing duties. DUTA rejects this attack on the educational autonomy of DU and it's colleges by AAP Government which they want to have the remote control through such acts. It seems that Delhi Government wants to force upo it's funding formula that would lead to self-financing mode of education in these institutions.

Prof Bhagi informed that this protest will continue tomorrow, on 7th January, also where DUTA has organised another action programme, PUBLIC HEARING and invited political leaders of all the parties, eminent personality from different sections of society besides the families of employees of these 12 colleges. He on behalf of DUTA Executive has assured the teaching and non teaching staff of these 12 colleges to further intensify their struggle till the full grants are released, full salaries and all other dues are paid to so that normalcy is restored in these colleges.
