Want to become an engineer like my father,’ says JEE Main 2024 girl topper Sanvi Jain

JEE Main topper Sanvi wants to secure a seat in either IIT Bombay or IISc Bangalore but hasn't finalised an engineering branch yet.

New Delhi :- “I am happy, proud, and confident to be one of the girl toppers,” says Sanvi Jain who scored 100 percentile in the recently announced Joint Entrance Examination Main 2024 result.

This time, just two of the 56 students in the JEE topper list 2024 are females — Shayna Sinha from Delhi and Sanvi Jain from Karnataka. Sanvi appeared for both sessions of JEE Main 2024. Since she could not score a perfect 100 percentile in the January session, she reappeared for the engineering entrance exam in April.

‘Father is my inspiration, guide’

Jain, who hails from Bengaluru, wishes to follow in her father’s footsteps who is also an engineer. “I started my preparation from Class 9 but at that time I only wanted to crack some competitive exams. It was in Class 11 when I started solely focusing on JEE Main preparation. The journey has not been full of roses, there have also been some low points, but my family and teachers’ support kept me going,” she said.

Her father also helps her academically during her low times. “He is the one who tells me what mistakes I made, and which areas I need to focus on. He has been tracking my records since the beginning,” she said.

The topper credits her tutor, Vineet from Unacadmey for his help, especially in mathematics.

‘Practice makes one perfect’

Sanvi suggests that students should make a habit of attempting Daily Practice Problems (DPP), previous years’ questions and practice sessions. “In my preparation journey, I always used to finish the topics the same day which I started and used to solve a lot of doubts of friends which helped improve my skills,” she added.

Many students alleged discrepancies in the exam and claimed that the difficulty level is getting tougher for JEE Main every year. However, Sanvi believes that “the difficulty level is not increasing but competition is increasing since more students are appearing for the exam.”

She further suggests students to be regular in their preparation and “always analyze your test series and learn from your mistakes and work on your weaknesses.” Following her own advice, Sanvi is now ensuring she keeps practicing for her JEE Advanced exam which is scheduled on May 26.

Sanvi wants to secure a seat in either IIT Bombay or IISc Bangalore but hasn’t finalised an engineering branch yet.
