Lucknow: On the auspicious occasion of Devashree Narad Jayanti, a national seminar was conducted on thursday under the joint aegis of Department of Journalism and Mass Communication and Vishwa Samvad Kendra, Lucknow at A.P Sen Auditorium of the University of Lucknow. With the theme of Vedic policies of Devarshee Narad Muni and correlation with the present form of Indian journalism, the national seminar was conducted at the dawn of evening.
The seminar was lead by Prof. Saurabh Malviya, who welcomed guests and people with enthusiasm. The chief guests who were invited to the program are the profound media professionals. Dr. Ashok Dubey, Provincial Publicity head of Awadh province of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, Mr. Umesh Upadhyay, a senior most journalist and Head of Vishwa Samvad Kendra, Lucknow, Mr. Narendra Bhadauria, President of Vishwa Samvad Kendra and Area Campaign Head of Eastern Uttar Pradesh region of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Mr. Subhash was cordially invited as a chief guest on this day. As a special guest on this occasion Prof. Rakesh Dwivedi, Chief Proctor, University of Lucknow was also invited to the venue.
The program was started with the address of Dr. Ashok Dubey who referred Devashree Narad Muni as a great example in understanding Journalism. Meanwhile, he also recited the story of Hiranyakashyap and role Narad Muni played in the saga. By considering Narad Muni as a dedicated journalist he firmly said ‘I strongly believe Devashree Narad Muni as a perfect communicator and mediator who not only proved the power of communication but also the role journalist should play while indulging with his/her practice in journalism and communication’
Further, Mr. Subhash, Area Campaign Head of Eastern Uttar Pradesh region of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, while addressing the seminar emphasized on the importance of Curiosity in Journalism. ‘The basic element of journalism is curiosity. If there is curiosity, information can be obtained.’ – He stated while giving instances of Devashree Narad Muni, ‘the modesty of Devarshee Narad is the message to all. Narad is not only a communicator but also a savior. Narad ji's life is for public welfare.’ – He said at the end of his address.
Likewise, Mr. Umesh Upadhyay also remembered the work of Narad Muni as a Journalist. On the occasion, he while comparing prior journalism practices with the present form of journalism also gave insights to the audience. He also eradicating the importance of media and told people about the varied roles media play in the society. He further showcase his believe towards current practices in journalism and express his views to audience that ‘there is a conflict in today's journalism. Earlier journalism was a mission whereas today's journalism is struggling to maintain a balance.’
Moreover, Senior Journalist and President of Vishwa Samvad Kendra Mr. Narendra Bhadauria pointed out the power of social media in current scenario. He said that ‘Today, social media has become so powerful that in upcoming years, it may replace the other mediums of mass communication. Furthermore, he criticized the work of present media while considering it as a part of business. “Unfortunately, today greed is ruling over media, they (media outlets) are doing their jobs just to earn money not to inform, educate or aware” – he said.
With this statement, the program came to an end. Prof. Saurabh Malviya showed his gratitude towards the guests at last. With the melody of Vande Mataram, everyone paid their tribute towards the principles and roles of Journalism. The seminar was concluded on a good note.
Around 100-150 people became the part of National Seminar. The students of Journalism and Mass Communication along with co-publicity head of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Awadh, Dr. Loknath, province co-contact head Dr. Harnam Singh, province Dharma Jagran chief Surendra, Vice Chancellor of Language University Dr. Manish Kumar, senior journalist Bharat Singh, Brijanandan Raju, Dr. Santosh and Dr. Sachindranath marked their presence on this occasion.
