SaPa Elevates Mumbai's Musical Landscape with Launch of Center of Excellence

SaPa, the global music education leader, takes Mumbai by storm with the inauguration of its Center of Excellence, amplifying musical talent through innovative programs and a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity.

Mumbai: SaPa, a renowned global pioneer in music education, is steadfast in its mission to democratize high-calibre music, culture, and art access. Its foundation by India's esteemed violin maestro, Padma Bhushan Dr L. Subramaniam, and accomplished playback and classical singer Padmashree Kavita Krishnamurti Subramaniam has yielded a legacy carried forward by their offspring - singer-songwriter Dr Bindu Subramaniam and acclaimed violinist Dr Ambi Subramaniam. This musical dynasty has fostered a fresh wave of performers and transcended cultural borders, enriching the tapestry of musical knowledge.

The Subramaniam Academy of Performing Arts, affectionately known as SaPa, which stands as a global flag-bearer in music education, has inaugurated its premier Center of Excellence in Mumbai - its third such centre in India, with the preceding two based in Bengaluru. Situated in Andheri West, this novel establishment will mould emerging musical talents, aligning with SaPa's objective of equipping students with the prowess and wisdom to navigate the ever-evolving realm of music. This aspiration is actualized through a fusion of classical and contemporary pedagogies, thus imparting a holistic and comprehensive music education.

The recently launched Center will host interactive sessions, including the Parent-Toddler Program, a unique blend of music, activities, and bonding exercises for parents and their toddlers. Designed for children aged between 1.5 and 3 years, this program offers a platform for parents to share quality moments with their little ones while delving into the realm of music. Additionally, the Center will provide Carnatic Vocal Music Classes for children aged 6 and above, expertly guided by Carnatic music virtuosos.

During the launch event, Bindu Subramaniam, SaPa's CEO and Co-founder, expressed her delight, stating, "We are thrilled to mark our presence in Mumbai through the launch of this inaugural Center of Excellence. Mumbai's vibrant entertainment sector presents abundant opportunities for aspiring musicians. SaPa's innovative teaching methodologies and research-driven approach are tailored to help learners carve an enduring and gratifying musical journey. With a rich backdrop of music festivals and live events, Mumbai's prominence in the Indian film industry further provides avenues for vocalists to explore. We are pleased to nurture vocal talents here, aiding their progress in this domain, while we eagerly anticipate establishing more centres in the city."

She went on to elaborate, "Our programs are designed to commence at an early age, as young as 1.5 years old, thereby bestowing students with a robust foundation, easing their acquisition of new skills as they mature."

In addition to the Centers of Excellence, SaPa engages in diverse modes of music education, encompassing SaPa in Schools (SiS), SaPa Outreach, and Higher Education in Music. The organisation's influence extends to over 30,000 students, where, in tandem with instruction, it offers its distinctive curriculum, methodologies, teacher training, and certification.

SaPa's ethos revolves around rendering music enjoyable, spanning from its proprietary curriculum to its whimsical toy tamburas and playful baby Dikshitar illustrations, all aimed at integrating music into students' lives and fostering a joyful journey towards professional musicianship.
