Record Surge in Delhi Nursery Admissions for 2025 26: First List Out on January 17

Sharp Increase in Registrations Across Private Schools

 

New Delhi. : Delhi has witnessed a significant rise in nursery admission registrations for the 2025-26 academic session. The registration process, involving approximately 1,741 private schools, concluded on December 20, 2024, as per the Directorate of Education (DoE) guidelines.

Manisha Sharma, Principal of Venkateshwar School, Dwarka, reported a staggering 3,600 registrations, reflecting a sharp increase. Similarly, Sovereign School in Rohini received over 2,000 applications, and Gitarattan Global School saw approximately 1,000 registrations.

Key Dates and Query Windows

The first admission list will be released on January 17, 2025. Parents can raise queries regarding this list between January 18 and January 27, 2025. The second list will follow on February 5, 2025, with a query window open until February 11, 2025. The entire process, including dispute resolution and marks allotment, is set to conclude by February 14, 2025.

Age and Reservation Guidelines

The DoE has specified age limits for admissions:

  • Nursery: Children must be at least three years old and under four by March 31, 2025.
  • KG: Age must be four to under five years.
  • Class 1: Age must be five to under six years.

Additionally, 25% of seats are reserved for children from the Economically Weaker Section (EWS), Disadvantaged Groups (DG), and children with disabilities. Separate admission lists will be issued for these categories in accordance with DoE instructions.

High Competition Expected

With record-high registrations, the nursery admission process in Delhi this year is anticipated to be highly competitive. Parents are advised to stay updated with timelines and prepare for the subsequent steps.
