New Delhi: National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has invited online applications for a total of 290 vacancies, including 117 academic positions and 173 non-teaching posts across its campuses in the country for 2026. NCERT notified the extended dates for academic positions. The recruitment drive will cover NCERT campuses located in New Delhi, Ajmer, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Mysuru, and Shillong.
Academic Vacancies: 117 Posts (Advt.177/2026)
Under Advertisement No. 177/2026, NCERT is recruiting for 117 academic positions. The posts include:
- Professor
- Associate Professor
- Assistant Professor
- Deputy Librarian
- Assistant Librarian
The deadline for submission of online applications for academic posts has been extended to March 6, 2026, up to 5:00 PM. Candidates are required to apply through the official website.

Eligibility, Pay Scale and Key Guidelines for Academic Posts
- Professor
Pay Scale: Academic Level 14 (₹1,44,200 entry pay)
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in the relevant discipline with a strong academic and research background. A minimum of 10 research publications in peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals and a research score of 120 (as per UGC Regulations 2018) are required. At least 10 years of teaching/research experience and evidence of guiding doctoral candidates are essential. Outstanding professionals with significant contributions and 10 years’ experience may also apply.
- Associate Professor
Pay Scale: Academic Level 13A (₹1,31,400 entry pay)
Applicants must have a Ph.D. with a good academic record and a Master’s degree with at least 55% marks. A minimum of 8 years of teaching/research experience and seven publications in peer-reviewed/UGC-listed journals with a research score of 75 are required.
- Assistant Professor
Pay Scale: Academic Level 10 (₹57,700 entry pay)
Candidates should have a Master’s degree with 55% marks and must have cleared NET/SLET/SET. Ph.D. holders complying with UGC Regulations 2009/2016 are exempt from NET. Alternatively, a Ph.D. from a foreign university ranked among the top 500 (QS/THE/ARWU) is acceptable. Academic scores as per UGC norms will be used for shortlisting, while final selection will be based on interview performance.
- Deputy Librarian
Pay Scale: Academic Level 13A (₹1,31,400 entry pay)
A Master’s degree in Library/Information Science with 55% marks, eight years of relevant experience, evidence of ICT-based library services, and a Ph.D. in the concerned field are required.
- Assistant Librarian
Pay Scale: Academic Level 10 (₹57,700 entry pay)
A Master’s degree in Library/Information Science with 55% marks and knowledge of library computerization is mandatory. Candidates must have cleared NET/SLET/SET or hold a Ph.D. as per UGC norms.
