JODHPUR,: Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur concluded the Foundation Day commemoration, in which, Shri Alkesh Kumar Sharma, Secretary MeitY, Government of India was the chief guest, and the event was presided over by Dr. R. Chidambaram, Chairman BoG, IIT Jodhpur and Prof. Santanu Chaudhury, Director, IIT Jodhpur gave the welcome address.
Alkesh Kumar Sharma inaugurated the Student’s Innovation Exhibition and appreciated the Institute’s vision towards emerging technologies and technology-led inclusive development. He appreciated the efforts made by IIT Jodhpur in implementing various government schemes by scaling up its operations and leveraging its capacities to bring Technology revolution thereby making "Atmanirbhar Bharat".
Dr. R. Chidambaram, Chairman, BoG, IIT Jodhpur, also appreciated the research culture and activities happening at IIT Jodhpur, that aims to usher the culture of innovative thinking and problem-solving amongst the country’s youth.
The second half of the day witnessed a session on “Scientific Excellence at IIT Jodhpur”. The chief Guest of the session was Dr. Jitendra J. Jadhav, Director, Aeronautical Development Agency, Bengaluru. The Foundation Day Oration was given by Prof. Pushpak Bhattacharya, Former Director, IIT Patna, the session was presided over by Prof. Santanu Chaudhury, Director, IIT Jodhpur. Fifteen highly cited and best research presentations were made by the faculty of IIT Jodhpur. Fifteen awards were given to students, staff and faculty for the best phone photography competition in which more than 140 entries were received showcasing the beauty of the campus.
IIT Jodhpur honoured eleven of its faculty members and three Staff members on this occasion to recognise their excellent contributions at all levels of their career path being here at IIT Jodhpur.
Institute Awards for Research Excellence - The Institute is recognizing Faculty Members by conferring “The awards given to the faculty members for their outstanding research contribution on the occasion of Institute Foundation Day each year since 2020. Since 2020, a total of 14 Faculty members have been awarded Research Excellence Award in the category of Young Researcher Award and Senior Researcher Award in the field of Science, Engineering and "Humanities, Social Science and Management".

Meritorious Staff:
IIT Jodhpur recognised the important contributions made by staff members who have provided years of dedicated service towards the Institute goals. This award is intended to honour staff members who have made exemplary and noteworthy contributions in their respective departments. This year the awardees are

· Group B: Ashok Gehlot, Superintendent
· Group C: Shyam Sunder Singh, Junior Assistant
International Research Mobility Grant (IRMG) - In the year 2021, the Institute has launched the International Research Mobility Grant (IRMG) for international research and collaboration between IITJ and International Institutes of repute (top QS ranking). International Research Mobility Grant supported from R&D funds for providing opportunities to young faculty members after following a rigorous two-stage peer review process for the selection of projects with a financial support of upto Rs.10 Lakhs. This scheme enables young faculty members to increase collaboration with international level reputed organizations / researchers. Total 07 faculty members have been awarded IRMG with a total sanctioned amount of Rs. 64.27 Lakhs.

IIT Jodhpur has instituted the 'Dr. Vandana Sharma Memorial Award for Teaching Innovation' to honour the memory of Late Dr. Vandana Sharma (Department of Mathematics) for her significant contributions towards the Institute.

IIT Jodhpur creates a unique platform to pursue 'Moonshot Projects' on innovative, disruptive ideas. The idea of the “Moonshot Competition” is to develop projects that can eventually lead to large-scale solutions to improve health, societal, economic, and environmental issues. Through this, IIT Jodhpur aspires to stimulate new research initiatives to foster creativity and team-building alongside addressing urgent problems and paving the way to a sustainable future. This year, the Moonshot Award is given to Dr. Debanjan Guha Roy, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil & Infrastructure Engineering for his novel idea “Lunar Tunnel Boring Machine for underground Moon Habitat."
As the celebrations concluded, the recipients of these prestigious awards and grants stood as a testament to IIT Jodhpur's unwavering pursuit of excellence and its enduring impact on shaping the future of science, engineering, social sciences, and management.
A cultural programme was scheduled at the end of the day, in which the faculty, staff and students of IIT Jodhpur showcased their talent. Dance and singing performances were made, showing the colourful diversity at IIT Jodhpur campus.
With the foundation day festivities drawing to a close, the institute reaffirmed its commitment to forging ahead on the path of scientific discovery, academic brilliance, and societal transformation, leaving an indelible mark on the world of education and research.
