K.R Mangalam University inaugurated Centre of Criminology and Victimology

The Centre was inaugurated in the presence of Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Pushplata Tripathi and Chair Professor Dr. Mehraj Uddin Mir (Moti Lal Nehru Chair).

Gurgaon, : Under the aegis of Motilal Nehru Chair, School of Legal Studies, K.R Mangalam University, Gurugram, on 2nd May 2023, the Centre of Criminology and Victimology was inaugurated by Hon’ble Justice A.M. Magrey, the former Chief Justice of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court and Professor (Dr.) G. S. Bajpai, Vice Chancellor of National Law University, Delhi. The Centre was inaugurated in the presence of Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Pushplata Tripathi and Chair Professor Dr. Mehraj Uddin Mir (Moti Lal Nehru Chair).

The centre has the following key objectives:

  • To promote research and action in the selected areas of victim justice, criminology, and victimology.
  • To undertake specific research projects in the said areas.
  • To propose training programmes for various wings of criminal justice system, including the stakeholders in the field of juvenile justice.
  • To analyse and critically examine the laws, policies, and programmes from the stand point of victim protection, rehabilitation, participation, and justice.
  • To strive for providing a Victimlogical thrust in the legal education at graduate and under graduate level.
  • To organize students centric initiatives in the form of victim advocacy, legal clinic and outreach programme for extending victims support services.
  • To undertake publications and coordinate with various National and International agencies working in the broader areas of victimology and criminology
