K J Somaiya Institute of Management and AIPMA’s AMTEC Forge Strategic Partnership for Sustainability and Skill Development

MoU Signed to Launch Joint Programs in Plastics Sustainability, Industry Training, and Research Initiatives

National – In a significant move to bridge academia and industry, K J Somaiya Institute of Management (KJSIM) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with AMTEC, the academic and training arm of the All India Plastic Manufacturers’ Association (AIPMA). The partnership aims to drive joint initiatives in sustainability, skill development, and innovation within the plastics and manufacturing sectors.
The MoU, signed at the KJSIM campus, sets the foundation for a series of collaborative programs including certificate courses, research projects, consultancy, and knowledge-sharing efforts. The first initiative under this collaboration will be a 34-hour certificate course titled “Plastics in Sustainability”, to be delivered by KJSIM faculty at AMTEC’s advanced training facility in Andheri, Mumbai.

Highlighting the partnership’s purpose,

Dr. Raman Ramachandran, Director, K J Somaiya Institute of Management, said:

“This collaboration with AMTEC is a timely and meaningful step toward addressing sustainability challenges in the plastics ecosystem. Our goal is to bring scientific rigor and real-world insights to help professionals better understand and contribute to sustainable practices.”

AMTEC, representing the training wing of AIPMA—India’s largest plastics industry association with over 5,000 members—brings strong industry networks, advanced technical infrastructure, and a commitment to building skills for the MSME sector.

Mr. Arvind Mehta, Chairman, Governing Council, AIPMA, remarked:
“This MoU enables the SME-dominated plastics industry to benefit directly from academic expertise. We look forward to working closely with KJSIM faculty to promote sustainability and innovation across the sector.”

Senior representatives from both institutions attended the signing, reinforcing a shared commitment to long-term collaboration. Going beyond academic programming, KJSIM and AMTEC aim to co-develop solutions that promote sustainable industry practices and cultivate future-ready professionals equipped to lead change in manufacturing and plastics.
