Mumbai, 2nd April 2025 – After gracing the Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam Ki Oar 3.0 conclave in Ahmedabad, ever since His Holiness, the 79th Spiritual Sovereign, Jainacharya Yugbhushansuriji arrived in Mumbai, Jyot is on a mission to organize various sessions of His Holiness in partnership with premier colleges of Mumbai. It is on an educational drive to instill the values and wisdom of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam in students by sharing the outcomes and ideas of previous editions of the conclaves. Its ultimate goal is to enhance the soft power of India by preserving, promoting, and capitalizing on the ancient Indian cultural values of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam and extrapolating them to a global level, making it a philosophy for shaping the evolving world order, which would be free, fair, and just. All activities of Jyot were envisioned and blessed by Spiritual Sovereign Munipravar Shri Mohjit Vijayji, the 78th successor to Tirthankar Shri Mahavir.
The series of events started with a two-day event in partnership with the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) on ‘The Root Cause of Discrimination in the Current World Order’. The same topic was further continued on March 11 in partnership with Mumbai University (having 781 Affiliated Colleges) and Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Hazarimal Somani College of Arts, Commerce, and Science in Makichan Hall, with an added perspective from the Indian Knowledge System. Apart from this, a legal event in partnership with K.C. Law College was organized on March 7 on the topic of the Basic Structure Doctrine in the Contemporary Era. Furthermore, a two-day exhibition-cum-session was organized at Somaiya Vidyavihar University, Mumbai, on March 18 and 19 on the topic of ‘Freedom of Speech – Ancient vs. Modern’, which was attended by 300 students and 100 guests.
All the events witnessed a huge turnout of students, teachers, and dignitaries from varied backgrounds. The key dignitaries included Mr. Niranjan Hiranandani, Mr. M. L. Tahaliyani (the former Lokayukta of Maharashtra and retired Judge of the Bombay High Court), Mr. Rajan Jaykar (Solicitor and Advocate), and Adv. Harihar P. Chaturvedi (Member - Judicial, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Law & Justice, Government of India, and Former HOD at NCLT, Ahmedabad Bench), Prof (Dr.) Shantaj M. Deshbratar Principal, Bhartiya Vidhya Bhavan's Hazarimal Somani College of Arts and Science, Mumbai Prant Sanchalak RSS Shri Sanjay Nagarkar, Pro VC of Somaiya University Prof. (Dr.) Satish Modh among many others.
On discrimination, His Holiness pointed out that the root cause of global discrimination lies in white supremacy, which is now systematically manifested in the current world order in the form of multilateral institutions, a trade and export-oriented economic order, and the dominance of the USD as the reserve currency. At Bhavan’s College, His Holiness sharply pointed out that even today, Trump’s policies of deporting illegal migrants are inherently discriminatory considering they themselves (Trump and other Europeans governing the country) are centuries-old illegal migrants who illegitimately claimed sovereignty and ownership on the basis of the Discovery Doctrine and Terra Nullius. The world is still not out of such discrimination and is prevalent even today. His Holiness pointed out how the ancient Indian ideas of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam can be an effective philosophy to address this malignancy in the world order. At K.C. Law College, His Holiness remarked that the absolute sovereignty of Parliament is and was never in the interest of humanity. Ancient scriptures denounced it, and it was never practiced. During a discussion on the highly debated topic of freedom of speech at Somaiya, His Holiness emphasized that the current constitutional framework for freedom of speech fails to safeguard citizens against false, misleading, and fake information. Unfortunately, the right to disseminate falsehoods is protected under Article 19. In contrast, the ancient concept of freedom of speech incorporated a sense of responsibility to speak the truth and provide justification when necessary.
Complementing the conference, Jyot presented an exclusive exhibition that showcased Jainacharya Yugbhushansuriji’s insights into global issues, alongside key takeaways from previous conclaves. The exhibition included a unique concept highlighting the root cause of the current turmoil in centuries-old absolute sovereignty, created out of the merger of temporal and spiritual sovereigns. This concept was unveiled by Jyot in its third edition of the conclave last year. The exhibition served as an interactive space for scholars, journalists, and policymakers to engage with His Holiness' perspectives on pressing global issues—a rare convergence of ancient wisdom and modern governance.
The exhibition was curated by Adv. Shri Rajan Jaykar, who was in charge of setting up the museum at the Bombay High Court, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2015. He was kind enough to lend a copy of the original constitution of India and other artifacts for the exhibition.
The fourth edition of the flagship conclave series ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam Ki Oar’ is also being planned by Jyot in January 2026 which would be a weeklong event having extensive exhibition and multiple interactive sessions.
