JMI PhD Scholar Secures Second Position in an All India Essay Writing Competition

A JMI PhD scholar has achieved second place in an all-India essay writing competition, showcasing exceptional writing skills and academic excellence.

New Delhi- Shahid Jamal, a PhD scholar from the Department of Educational Studies at Jamia Millia Islamia, has secured second position in the prestigious All India Essay Writing Competition organized by Aligarh Muslim University (AMU). The essay competition, part of AMU's annual Sir Syed Day celebrations, invited entries in English, Urdu, and Hindi on the theme: "Bridging Communities: Sir Syed's Efforts to Promote Religious Harmony in India."

 

This year, AMU awarded cash prizes of Rs. 25,000/- for first place, Rs. 15,000/- for second place, and Rs. 10,000/- for third place in each language category. Shahid Jamal’s essay, written in Urdu, earned him the second prize, with a cash award of Rs. 15,000/-. Shahid’s essay highlighted the significant role of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan in promoting religious harmony and unity in India.

 

The awards were presented at the Sir Syed Day commemorative event on October 17, 2024, at AMU, where noted filmmaker Muzaffar Ali, the chief guest, and the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Naima Khatoon, felicitated the winners.
