New Delhi: The Department of Economics, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) organized an interactive session with Wiegand Korber of Martin Luther University, Germany. He and his research team of six people have committed towards working in the area of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) specifically goal 6 which refers to access to Clean water and Sanitation.

The speaker Weigand Korber commenced the session by sharing the insights from their prospective methodology for conducting the field work in India. He and his research team mainly emphasize on two fronts: Political aspect of the SDGs and its usage by the Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) which is crucial for effective political communication. Their research work named ‘Gap Analysis’ aims to cater the difference between the planning of Sustainable Development goals and their implementation. Bridging this gap is of immense importance so that the benefits of these goals can be reaped by the masses. He further said that India, a geo-political nation, was chosen as the subject matter of this study because of the huge water crisis it is presently facing. Besides, India has very limited independent NGOs and justice organizations which further contribute in enhancing the purpose of the study.

The session was followed by a Q&A and feedback session by the student and scholars.
