New Delhi: The Dr. Zakir Husain Library, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) organized a one-day awareness programme on Research Data Management in collaboration with Information and Library Network(INFLIBNET) on 10th December 2024 for the faculty members and researchers. The programme was inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mazhar Asif. All the dignitaries including Dean Student`Welfare Prof. Neelofer Afzal ,OSD to Vice-Chancellor Prof. Satya Prakash, Deans, Hods and Directors, Provosts, Proctor and other invited guests attended the event.
The University Librarian, Dr. Vikas S. Nagrale formally welcomed all the guests including the Resource persons. In his welcome address he applauded the Vice- Chancellor’s vision and his dynamic leadership. He also thanked the Registrar Md Mahtab Alam Rizvi for his constant support in all the endeavors taken by the Library. He also acknowledged the Director of INFLIBNET Prof. Devika P Madalli to collaborate with Dr. Zakir Husain Library, JMI.
Dr. Umaima delivered an Introductory address of the program emphasizing that this collaborative initiative between Dr. Zakir Husain Library, JMI and the INFLIBNET Centre, reflects the shared commitment to academic excellence and the advancement of research practices. The One-Day Awareness Programme had been designed to equip researchers, faculty members, and students by imparting essential knowledge and best practices for the efficient management, sharing, and preservation of research data. She briefed about the outline and the structure of this program consisting of two Technical sessions conducted by esteemed Resource Persons Mr. Abhishek Kumar and Dr. Divyakant Vaghela scientists from INFLIBNET, Gandhinagar.
Furthermore, Professor Neelofer Afzal ,The Dean Students’ Welfare in her special address appreciated the pro- active approach of the University Librarian Dr. Vikas S. Nagrale to take up these initiatives for the benefit of the Faculty and researchers .She stressed that following the best practices of Research will enrich not only the researchers but also faculty members. It will contribute Quality Research that will enhance the prestige and reputation of the University.
The Vice chancellor in his presidential address highlighted the value and significance of research .He said that a good research should be driven by curiosity and inquisitiveness. The dynamics of research should not only aim to give answers but encourage us to pose questions that will constitute original research.
Around 67 participants from different Institutions across the country actively participated in this programme.
The programme was conducted by Mr. Johan Mohd. Mir and vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Sufian Ahmad
