Jamia Senior Secondary School celebrates Annual Day 2023

The event began with the recitation of the Holy Quran followed by Jamia's Tarana.

 

New Delhi. ; Jamia Senior secondary School(JSSS), Jamia Millia Islamia(JMI) organized Annual Day Celebrations  on the  24th of February 2023 in its Multipurpose Hall. The event began with the recitation of the Holy Quran followed by Jamia's Tarana.

JMI Vice Chancellor, Prof. Najma Akhtar (Padma Shri) presided over the function, which consists of a plethora of multicultural events. She was welcomed with saplings and mementos, presented to her by Principal of the school, Prof. Jasim Ahmad. The Vice Chancellor in her address, encouraged the students and teachers present and spoke most passionately about the different vistas present for the students in the university and how they can build their CVs and Portfolios in the most efficient and progressive manner. She also spoke about the importance of sports and NCC in school, to name a few.

The Chief Guest of the event Prof. (Dr.) Rihan Khan Suri, (Pro VC, SDEU) and Guest of Honour Prof. Nazim Hussain Jafri (Registrar, JMI) were welcomed by the principal of the school Prof. Jasim Ahmad and other faculty members with saplings and mementos. 

The Annual function also marked the glorious day when Jamia Senior Secondary School's official magazine 'UMANG - 2023' was officially released by esteemed guests with much joy and cheer amongst the fraternity . UMANG is especially dear to students as it has been released after the opening of school post pandemic and is reminiscent of the historic past as well as a flag bearer of the upcoming future. 

Student presented Punjabi and Rajasthani folk dances in a beautiful manner which filled the audience with energy.  It received a standing ovation from the audience. 

Awards were given to the students in the sports category, NCC, for highest marks in 10th and 12th Board exams, highest attendance, best assembly etc. They motivated the students to learn and live even further, meanwhile also enjoying the teaching learning process. Students also sang Ghazal and recited Kavita in the function. 

Annual Report was presented by students commemorating the entire session. It was filled with  student's achievements. It talked about multiple awards, Quiz competition, TED Speaking club, Poetry Recitation Competitions, Gandhi Trophy, picnic, inter-house  football and cricket tournaments etc.

Prof. Jasim Ahmad spoke to the students and teachers about self-assessment and how one should assess oneself at the end of each year (session) to see what one has done, and what more needs to be done, paving the way for more personal and professional development. 

Prof. (Dr.) Rihan Khan Suri, an alumnus of the JSSS, in his address took the audience to his own class 11 experiences and talked about chances, luck and hard work. He gave the credit of his success to his parents and teachers.

Prof. Nazim Hussain Jafri (Registrar, JMI) spoke to students about working hard and not giving up until one achieves one's aim and wished the students all the best for exams and life. 

The vote of thanks was presented by a student, followed by the National Anthem, which brought the Annual Day Celebrations to an end.
